Menswear brand Bonobos launches its maiden women’s collection

Bonobos, known for designing and selling menswear, has launched its first women’s collection.

To commemorate women’s history month, the five-piece collection including two shirts, two short-sleeve tops and a jumpsuit was launched on 4 March.

It was a follow-up on brand’s gender-based campaign last year, wherein it had emphasised on male allyship.

To promote its belief that men have a significant role to play in establishing gender equality, Bonobos has joined hands with Brazil-based Promundo, a global leader that is committed to enhancing gender justice by engaging boys and men in partnership with girls and women.

Notably, 40 per cent of the proceeds from the sale of each of men’s and women’s piece will be donated to Promundo.

While talking about male allyship, Micky Onvural, CEO, Bonobos, averred “The whole concept of male allyship is sort of the next phase in this fight towards gender equality.”

A training programme on male allyship is being held today for all Bonobos employees, including store associates. Live and recorded training sessions will also be a part of the training programme.

Onvural expressed hope that other brands too will follow the suit.
