H&Mís first and only in-store recycling machine unveiled!

Hereís Looop!

Thatís H&Mís first garment-to-garment recycling system, which will be unveiled in its Drottninggatan store in Stockholm on 12 October (Monday).

The recycling machine uses technique that dissembles and assembles old garments into new ones.

The process involves cleaning the garments and shredding them into fibres and spinning them into new yarn which are then knitted into new fashion items.

The development is enabled by the companyís non-profit foundation and its research partner, The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA).

ďWe are constantly exploring new technology and innovations to help transform the fashion industry as we are working to reduce the dependency on virgin resources,Ē said Pascal Brun, Head of Sustainability at H&M.

The technology eliminates the use of any water and chemical therefore reducing the environmental impact compared to a garment being produced from the beginning. However, it requires certain sustainability material being sourced during the process.
