Swedish fast fashion brand H&M will be re-launching some of its most iconic designer pieces to celebrate the 20th anniversary of designer collaborations of the brand. The fast fashion retailer will pick some of the most popular pieces and re-launch them in limited quantities.
H&M’s very first collaboration was with designer Karl Lagerfeld in 2004, followed by another tie-up with Chanel’s creative director in the same year. The designer brand tie-ups of H&M made luxury styles more accessible and paved the way for high-street-fashion retail brands and luxury fashion houses to work unitedly.
The Swedish brand has decided to celebrate their guest designer launches after two decades by bringing their old collections through their pre-loved initiative. Items for the launch will be sourced through the online pre-loved marketplace Sellpy and other global vintage retailers, promoting circular fashion in the industry.
The re-release collection is expected to have works from their guest collaborations including Versace, Viktor & Rolf, Versace, Comme des Garçons, Balmain, Vera Wang, and Stella McCartney.
The Re-launch will be happening in phases and a series of drops among the selected seven global stores with the first one starting from its Paris Lafayette shop on 24th October. This is followed by the other stores of London, Milan, New York, Barcelona, Stockholm, ending in Berlin on 30th October. The in-store launches will be later followed by an online launch on the 31st of this month.
H&M creative director Jörgen Andersson has said that the initiative intends to bring back ‘iconic’ fashion moments and the top designs of the world back for the current generation. He views this as an opportunity for the fashion fans to get to experience these collections all over again.
