Asos signs global agreement with ITF to safeguard transport and logistics workers

Asos has expanded its human rights commitments into transport and logistics by signing a legally binding agreement with the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF), aimed at strengthening protections for workers across its global supply chain.

The online fashion retailer becomes the first business in the sector to hold agreements with both the ITF and IndustriALL, covering product manufacturing as well as transport operations.

Under the partnership, Asos and the ITF will collaborate on human rights due diligence (HRDD), working to identify, mitigate, and address risks where rights violations occur. The agreement also commits the company to monitoring and compliance across directly operated and subcontracted transport operations, engagement with workers in line with ITF guidance, and remediation measures in cases of violations.

Stephen Cotton, General Secretary of the ITF, said the agreement was an important step for the sector, noting that such partnerships were helping the federation to strengthen protection for transport workers’ rights. He added that this progress was only possible with “pioneering, progressive businesses like Asos” willing to move beyond the minimum legal requirements.

Asos chief executive José Antonio Ramos Calamonte said the agreement would allow the company to build further on its existing work, extending its commitments to human rights across its transport and logistics supply chain. He added that the move would not only reduce risks and improve resilience but also “deliver positive change for the people supporting our business.”

The deal also includes collaboration on wider sector challenges such as climate change and gender equality.
