Bangladesh’s apparel exports to the United States experienced a robust increase of 21.66% in the first seven months of 2025, reinforcing its status as a rapidly expanding supplier to the world’s largest clothing market.
From January to July, Bangladesh shipped apparel valued at US $ 4.98 billion to the US, according to recent trade statistics. This growth significantly outstrips the overall increase in US apparel imports, which rose by just 4.96% during the same period, totaling US $ 45.80 billion globally.
In terms of shipment volume, the number of garments imported from Bangladesh grew by 20.33% year-on-year, with a modest 1.11% rise in average unit price.
China, once the dominant player in global apparel exports, saw its shipments to the US drop by 21.01% in value and nearly 16% in quantity. Its average price per unit also declined by 6.05%.
Meanwhile, other Asian nations posted notable growth figures: Vietnam increased shipments by 16.94%, India by 16.10%, Indonesia by 16.80%, Pakistan by 11.81%, and Cambodia by 24.45%. Notably, Cambodia experienced a 31.11% rise in the number of pieces shipped, with Bangladesh closely behind at 20.33%.
Performance from non-Asian suppliers varied, with Mexico’s exports rising by only 2.40%, Honduras declining sharply by 11.78%, and South Korea experiencing a 7.59% decrease.
