Uniqlo to open 11 new stores across the US in Spring/Summer 2026

Japanese apparel retailer Uniqlo has announced plans to strengthen its presence in the United States with 11 new store openings slated for spring/summer 2026, marking a significant step in the brand’s North American expansion.

The company said it was “prioritising purposeful growth in key markets” across the country, with flagship stores set to open in Chicago and San Francisco, alongside four additional stores in New York City — in Williamsburg, Union Square, World Trade Center, and Bryant Park on 5th Avenue.

Further locations are planned for Boston, Seattle, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. The announcement coincides with preparations to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Uniqlo’s flagship store in SoHo, New York, the brand’s first global flagship to open outside Japan. The upcoming flagships in Chicago and San Francisco will mark Uniqlo’s first major flagship openings outside New York City in the US.

Fuminori Adachi, CEO of Uniqlo USA, said the milestone in New York represented an important moment for the brand. He noted that celebrating 20 years in the city was “deeply meaningful” and that 2026 would “mark an exciting next chapter” for Uniqlo in the US. He added that the new stores would not only signify the company’s growth but also serve as “a way of honouring the customers who welcomed us two decades ago and continue to inspire everything we do.”

Adachi emphasised that Uniqlo’s retail growth strategy is rooted in purposeful and thoughtful expansion, consistent with its LifeWear philosophy. He explained that the company’s approach is to “open the right stores in the right places”, ensuring that “each location reflects customers’ voices and delivers a meaningful, high-quality experience.”

Each of the new stores is designed to provide an elevated shopping experience while fostering strong community connections. Standard features include RFID self-checkout stations, on-site alterations, and Re:Uniqlo donation bins. Select stores will also offer UTme!, a customisable T-shirt and tote bag service, and Re:Uniqlo Studios, where shoppers can personalise or repair garments through embroidery and mending.

The US expansion follows Uniqlo’s recent announcement of plans to open three new stores in the United Kingdom later this year and in early 2026. Globally, the brand now operates more than 2,500 stores, including 78 locations across the United States.
