India-New Zealand FTA opens duty-free access for textile exports

India-New Zealand FTA opens duty-free access for textile exports

The India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA) took effect on October 20, 2026, granting Indian textile, apparel, leather and footwear exports 100% duty-free access to New Zealand. The agreement eliminates customs duties on all Indian export tariff lines, removing previous tariffs of up to 10%.

The duty concessions and faster customs procedures are expected to reduce export costs and improve market access for Indian manufacturers, particularly micro, small and medium enterprises. The agreement also supports the two countries’ goal of doubling bilateral trade in goods and services to NZ$7 billion by 2030.
