Sardor Rustamboyev, the Uzbek ambassador, met with Pabitra Margherita, the Union Minister of State for Textiles, to talk about bringing Uzbekistan’s textile exports—especially knitwear—to the Indian market.
The discussions were conducted in anticipation of Bharat Tex, a significant international trade show that would be hosted in India in February 2025. Rustamboyev emphasised the use of contemporary technologies in manufacturing to create competitive, high-value goods for the international market, pointing to Uzbekistan’s recent developments in textile and light industry reforms.
Enhancing collaboration within the textile industry and expanding the supply of Uzbek knitwear and other products in the Indian market were the main topics of discussion.
The sides also discussed plans for Uzbekistan’s active involvement in Bharat Tex 2025, which include organising talks between business executives from both nations and presenting Uzbekistan’s capabilities in the textile and light industries.
