Vietnam textile and apparel sector shifts to value-driven growth strategy

Vietnam’s textile and apparel sector is recalibrating its growth model, moving away from volume-led expansion toward a more value-driven strategy to sustain export momentum.

The industry is focusing on strengthening domestic supply chains and investing in upstream capabilities to reduce reliance on imported raw materials. This shift is expected to help Vietnam better utilize its free trade agreements and support its long-term export ambitions.

Despite ongoing challenges such as rising labor costs, weak global demand, and geopolitical uncertainties, the sector is actively repositioning itself. Competitive pressure from regional players like Bangladesh and Cambodia continues to intensify, further pushing Vietnam to upgrade its value proposition.

Industry stakeholders, led by the Vietnam Textile and Garment Association, are targeting steady export growth and working on strategic initiatives to enhance competitiveness, diversify markets, and ensure sustainable development in the coming years.
