US cotton exports decline as global buying slows

US cotton export sales fell sharply in early April, reflecting a slowdown in purchasing after strong demand in March, according to the latest data.

The United States Department of Agriculture reported that Upland cotton sales dropped 50% week-on-week to 161,100 running bales, while shipments also weakened. Vietnam, Turkey, Pakistan and Bangladesh remained key buyers, though overall demand softened.

Pima cotton exports also declined, with weaker premium fibre demand contributing to reduced volumes. Despite the slowdown, Asian markets continued to provide core support for US cotton exports.
