The United States Court of International Trade has ruled that former President Donald Trump’s temporary 10% global tariffs were not justified under the Trade Act of 1974.
The court blocked the tariffs for two private importers and Washington state but declined to suspend them nationwide, rejecting a request from 24 states seeking a broader injunction.
The ruling stated that the law cited by Trump was not intended for the type of trade deficits referenced in his February tariff order.
